We’re only going to take your eye off Christmas for a second, as we don’t want to be party poopers, but after Christmas, before you know it it’s time to submit your self-assessment tax return.
If you haven’t yet done so, the deadline for submitting your self-assessment online is 31 January 2015. If you are even a day late, you will incur a late filing penalty! Penalties for late filing can be punitive; Those who file later than three months after the deadline will be start to be penalised at a rate of £10 per day up to a maximum of £900 and could even be fined up to 100 per cent of the tax due if they are a year late!
So if you’re yet to complete your tax return for 2014, we urge you to act sooner rather than later so that you can totally relax over the Christmas period.
