What is an Adolescent Business?
Generally it is a business that was born from the owner’s idea that they know how to do it “better”. Usually the owner is a technical person in the industry, or a newcomer to that industry. The business has grown quietly as a lifestyle or small enterprise where the owner has been able to control everything. Then it reached a size where the owner has taken on the extra help needed to grow the business above what they can manage on their own.
At this point things start to happen independently of the owner. And most of the time without the mechanisms for the owner to feel they are as much in control as they would like to be. Then one day you realise your business is kicking and screaming so loud for your attention that you never have time for yourself or your family! Appearing to have developed a mind of its own and doing what it wants without your permission. This is when you need to understand more about
