In November, local Accountancy firm Alexander Accountancy hosted a quiz night at Pirelli Stadium with proceeds going to YMCA Burton.
The evening pitted local business egg-heads against each other and the winning team was headed up by Kathryn Caple of Else Solicitors.
David Alexander from Alexander Accountancy and his colleague Richard Faulkner met Kathryn, to present the winning shield to the quiz captain and to also present a cheque to YMCA Burton for £2,400. These were funds raised from the quiz evening as well as a raffle and auction too.
Fundraising and Partnerships Manager, Paula Senior at YMCA Burton said:
“We had such a fun evening at the quiz and were relieved to not come last! The amount raised is phenomenal and we are so happy that this will go towards helping the local community, especially at such a hard time of year. Thank you David and his team at Alexander Accountancy for all your work organising & hosting, Richard Lloyd for being a great quiz master, and to the businesses who sponsored rounds & attended with their teams and to everyone who contributed to the raffle & auction!”
David Alexander from Alexander Accountancy said: “Alexander Accountancy are strong believers in Corporate Social Responsibility and are proud to support charities that help the local community. In particular we want to express our thanks to YMCA Burton for helping the more vulnerable members of our society at a time they are most in need.”
YMCA Burton have experienced their busiest year of handing out emergency parcels since their foodbank began 22 years ago. The foodbank helps everyone within the local community who is in need and is located at the Asda roundabout in Burton town centre, you do not need a referral but you need to bring ID.

The YMCA is the largest and oldest youth charity in the world. We believe that all young people
deserve to have a safe place to live and the opportunity to reach their full potential. In Burton and
the surrounding we are working to:
- Prevent youth homelessness by helping families to resolve conflicts and by sharing with young people the realities of living away from home.
- Provide rooms or flats for young people who leave home, giving them the support, they need.
- Offer temporary emergency rooms for adults of any age who face homelessness, plus support to change their situation.
