Guests were given expert updates on the key issues facing the construction and rental management sectors at the latest Alexander Accountancy Property People Burton event.
Property People Burton welcomes anyone with a genuine interest or connection to the sector, including architects, developers, mortgage advisors, investors and landlords, as well as those wishing to become more involved.
The July event was held at Burton Rugby Football Club on Thursday (July 16).
Alexander Accountancy chairman David Alexander updated attendees on the impact of the Government’s Making Tax Digital changes and how they may affect people with property income.
Property People will return in the autumn on September 17
Where previously self-employed individuals and landlords filed a tax return once a year under the new rules those impacted are required to keep digital records of all business income and expenses, send quarterly updates to HMRC using compatible software and submit a return at the end of the tax year.
Craig Adams, director of New Chapter Property Finance, updated delegates on the outlook for mortgage interest rates and provided an overview of the services offered by his business.
Richard Stone, a chartered project manager with more than 30 years’ experience in the property industry, gave guests his insights from the world of building works, including the importance of contracts and having all the correct paperwork in place.
The attendees, who represented all aspects of the property and construction sector, had the chance to ask each speaker questions to engage with the expertise on.

Property People will return on September 17, with tickets priced at £27 plus an Eventbrite booking fee. A limited number of discounted first-time places will be available for new guests.
