Sophie Whysall MAAT
Account Semi-Senior
Sophie’s been part of the team at Alexander Accountancy for the past six years.
What drew you to accountancy?
I remember watching my Dad complete his annual business accounts at the kitchen table every year, and I always found the process fascinating! That led me to study for a Level 2 AAT certificate at college, followed by a Level 3 apprenticeship with Alexander Accountancy.
What do you enjoy most about your role at the firm?
That every client is different, and I’ve had the opportunity to work with so many different types of businesses. I enjoy a challenge, so whenever a problem comes up, I see it as a chance to test my knowledge.
Is there a professional achievement or qualification you are particularly proud of?
I’m proud to have achieved my Level 4 AAT and am looking forward to achieving my ATT qualification to become a tax specialist, which I’m working towards now.
Outside of work, what hobbies or interests keep you busy?
I’m quite a granny when it comes to hobbies! I really enjoy crocheting, reading books and taking long walks in the countryside, and spending time with family and friends.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone just starting their career with Alexander Accountancy?
Don’t be scared to have a go at everything and don’t worry if you fail; every mistake is a learning opportunity.
