What drew you to accountancy and what do you enjoy most about your role at the firm?
My interest in maths and solving puzzles and problems is what really led me to pursue accountancy. In high school a friend told me that I should take accountancy since I am quite good at maths. What I enjoy about my role is being able to explore and gain experience in the different accounting processes with every client or task given to me. The positive work environment and good work–life balance are also reasons why I am enjoying my stay with the company.
Is there a professional achievement or qualification you are particularly proud of?
The achievement that I am most proud of is being able to finish the accountancy programme, knowing that it is a difficult course that requires rigorous study. I am also proud of the certifications I have earned.
Outside of work, what hobbies or interests keep you busy?
I like spending my time at home watching mystery crime-solving series such as Bones, High Potential, and Sherlock Holmes, as well as solving word puzzles. I am taking swimming classes and I enjoy going out with my sisters whenever I can.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone just starting their career with Alexander Accountancy, what would it be?
The piece of advice that I could give is to ask questions and always take notes. These two habits will help you avoid repeating mistake, showing that you are engaged and at the same time eager to learn. When starting at a new company, no one expects you to know everything, so it is okay to be curious and ask questions.
What’s something that might surprise people about you or your background?
A surprising fact about my background is that I used to be an altar server in high school, which helped me shaped my discipline and confidence.
