Lucy Cooper FCCA
SENIOR CLIENT MANAGER
Senior client manager Lucy Cooper joined Alexander Accountancy in July 2026.
What was the appeal of joining Alexander Accountancy?
I was impressed by the focus on client care, which is important to me. Accountancy is shifting with the use of technology but the added value of supporting customers is still important.
Alexander Accountancy customers value the communication and support which we offer. I am pleased to have joined a company where clients benefit from a personal service so I am looking forward to helping them.
What drew you to accountancy?
I qualified straight from school, having enjoyed Maths, Business Studies and English Language at A level. I use all of these subjects in my career, both in the business and the problem-solving side of things, as well as being good at communicating with clients. Having started as an accounts clerk in industry at aged 18, I went on to hold a number of senior practice roles all across the East Midlands area.
What do you enjoy most about your role at the firm?
I am able to help with technical expertise if bigger clients have more complex issues to discuss. I would like to be involved in supporting the younger team members to nurture the next generation as we have some talented colleagues in our growing business.
Is there a professional achievement or qualification you are particularly proud of?
I have my FCCA (Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) qualification but my proudest achievement is the positive feedback I have received from clients.
I have worked with clients of all sizes, particularly larger ones. I worked with one customer from a family building firm who told me they had learned more in the first 30 minutes of speaking with me than they had learned in 30 years with their previous accountants.
Outside of work, what hobbies or interests keep you busy?
I have two teenagers who keep me busy. I like travelling, including going to places like Cyprus and the Canary Islands. We have a holiday let property on the North Yorkshire coast.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone just starting their career with Alexander Accountancy, what would it be?
Go with your instinct to make sure you do what is right.
