Joe Summers CIMA Dip MA
Account Senior
Having worked for Alexander Accountancy since 2019, Joe Summers is employed as Accounts Senior.
What drew you to accountancy?
I liked the idea of working with a variety of clients. You get to understand the various aspects of a company and the ways they manage money.
What do you enjoy most about your role at the firm?
I like meeting with the clients to build a professional relationship and to provide a good service. I am involved in a number of jobs including VAT returns and company management accounts, which gives me a good mix to be working across.
Is there a professional achievement or qualification you are particularly proud of?
I have completed the first year of my Chartered Institute of Management Accountants qualifications and have done my Association of Accounting Technicians qualifications. I am proudest of doing the management accounts for around 12 clients which they really seem to appreciate. I am taking on more responsibilities as I go on.
Outside of work, what hobbies or interests keep you busy?
I have started going back to the gym and have undertaken golf this year.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone just starting their career with Alexander Accountancy, what would it be?
Ask as many questions as you can. Do not be afraid of making mistakes. When I first joined I was worried about making mistakes but if you make them once you will know not to do them again. There is a responsibility in our work as tax errors can have a real impact on people’s cashflow so you need to be thorough.
