Two property experts shared their stories of success when professionals came together for the first Alexander Accountancy-organised social networking event of 2026.

The Property People networking evening was held at Burton Rugby Club on Thursday (April 16), with 22 people attending to build local connections and share experiences.

The Property People events are open to anyone with a genuine interest in or connections to the property sector. Attendees include landlords and property developers, architects and investors, builders and subcontractors, letting and estate agents and mortgage advisors.

Sarah and Jon Crew of Crew Property Services, who have their own portfolio of rental properties, stepped in to speak to the group when the original speaker was delayed due to traffic.

Alexander Accountancy Chairman David Alexander said: “The first Property People gathering of 2026 proved to be a very successful evening with a total of 22 people in the room.

“Unfortunately, our keynote speaker got stuck in traffic on the M1, so our co-hosts Sarah and Jon Crew stepped in and gave a presentation of their property journey.

“They started as part time landlords and have built their business up, so they now have a portfolio of rental properties. They have refurbished and sold a couple of houses and are currently starting their first new build, having also invested in their own self build project.

“Sarah and Jon outlined a real journey that is within the reach of anyone who is interested and has the enthusiasm to make it happen.

“They shared tips on what works and what does not work at the grass roots level, together with the importance of making things happen plus potential pitfalls, even touching on how to leverage creative deals to your advantage.”

Alexander Accountancy encourages local connections by organising networking events such as Property People, creating valuable opportunities for clients while strengthening the business community.

David thanked the team at Burton Rugby Club for hosting the informal, bi-monthly event. He said: “It was our first meeting at this venue. Their service and flexibility with last minute changes was spot on and the food was plentiful and tasty.”

Property professionals are invited to sign up for the next session on Thursday June 4, when the keynote speaker will be Anthony Murphy of Veritas Facilities Management. Registrations will open via the Alexander Accountancy Event Brite account: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/alexander-accountancy-73271463903

Property People remains free for first-time visitors, with tickets priced at £27 plus the Eventbrite fee for returning attendees. Innovations for 2026 include plans to set up LinkedIn and WhatsApp groups to add value for anyone who attends.
