Businesses can get free advice on planning for the forthcoming financial year end at a series of Alexander Accountancy workshops.
Burton-on-Trent-based Alexander Accountancy is offering practical help on strategic planning actions as one of the key topics being covered in the sessions, which are aimed at enabling business owners and senior managers to make informed decisions.
The next two hour workshop, to be led by chairman David Alexander, will be held at the Alexander Accountancy office in Granary Wharf Business Park, Wetmore Road, on Tuesday February 24. Further dates are planned for March 10, April 14 and April 28.
The workshops are open to Alexander Accountancy clients and non-clients, providing they have a business or are about to start one. The subject of the workshops is open ended and will be decided by the choice of the first person to book on, who can select from: business start-ups, planning for year ends, business and personal tax planning, or structures and strategies.
David explains: “Regardless of whether your business is a sole trader, partnership or limited company, every business can benefit from planning for their year-end. As a sole trader or partnership, your year-end is likely to be 31 March or 5 April so that it aligns with the end of the tax year. And many limited companies have their year-end as 31 March to align their financial year with the tax year.
Strategic planning
“In these cases, now is the time you should be putting your year-end strategies into action and planning for the next tax year. For limited companies with different year-end dates, they should be focussing on the three months prior to their year-end date, although this time of year is still crucial for the directors, as their personal tax planning will still align with the tax year.
“We would stress that these are workshops and not seminars, so will be aimed at helping you achieve the most from your business, and not imparting prescribed knowledge in a one size fits all solution. To get the most out of this workshop, you need to know your figures and have access to your latest information. You should aim to have realistic forecasts based on the latest data.
“We can then help you with questions such as: Should you be investing in assets? Are there any other strategies you should be investing in? Are there tax benefits in making additional pension contributions? Should you be planning for a cash surplus or deficit?
“These are all things that we can identify, and if required, offer advice about. So, if you would welcome this sort of help with your business you are welcome to book onto one of our upcoming workshops or request a bespoke meeting subject to availability.”
