Entrepreneurs looking to grow new businesses can get free advice on planning their accounts and finances by attending a Alexander Accountancy workshop.

Burton-on-Trent-based Alexander Accountancy is offering practical support for new start-up businesses in the sessions, being held each month to help business owners and senior managers to make informed decisions.

The next two hour workshop, to be led by chairman David Alexander, will be held at the Alexander Accountancy office in Granary Wharf Business Park, Wetmore Road, on Tuesday February 24. Further dates are planned for March 10, April 14 and April 28.

The workshops are open to Alexander Accountancy clients and non-clients, providing they have a business or are about to start one.

The subject of the workshops is open ended and will be decided by the choice of the first person to book on, who can select from: business start-ups, planning for year ends, business and personal tax planning, or structures and strategies.

David explains: “I have built, and am still building, several small businesses and run other business projects. The start-up workshops can offer insights into what I wished I had known when I started, what I have learnt and give some tips to speed things up.

Key topics

“The topics which a start-up business owner may want to consider include personal motivations and the realities, the ideas, business formats, statutory and industry requirements, remuneration planning, business records and record keeping, not just financial, and what additional support may be required.

“We will finish with the recommendation to write your own business plan and a list of what should be included. The value to the individuals will be whatever they make of it, whereas the cost is only two hours of their time.”

The free meetings are being held as part of Alexander Accountancy’s drive to actively foster local connections through regular networking and information events, creating valuable opportunities for clients while strengthening the regional business community.

Alexander Accountancy provides key services for clients, including tax planning, business advice, budgets and forecasting services, as well as the preparation of company accounts. The team are also experienced in supporting new start-ups through to established small enterprises looking to scale up.
