Alexander Accountancy client manager Lisa Aylett has raised £1,100 by sleeping out for the night to raise funds for YMCA Burton.
Lisa surpassed her sponsorship goal by completing the challenge, which saw her join the group of plucky volunteers who stayed out overnight at St Modwen’s Church in Market Place, Burton upon Trent, on November 7.
Setting herself the target of raising £1,000, Lisa took part in the event as the latest effort in Alexander Accountancy’s longstanding fundraising partnership with YMCA Burton, which provides supportive and safe housing for homeless people across three sites in East Staffordshire.
Lisa said: “I am delighted to have beaten my fundraising target for YMCA Burton through the sleep out challenge.
“Spending the night was a small way to make a positive difference to those who face homelessness every day.
“The experience brought home how vital YMCA Burton’s work is in providing safe housing and support to vulnerable people in our community.
“I am grateful to everyone who sponsored me in raising funds for an important cause that Alexander Accountancy has supported for so long.”
Continued support
YMCA Burton thanks Alexander Accountancy for Lisa’s contribution. In a post on LinkedIn the charity said: “Thanks Alexander Accountancy for your continued support and belief in our work.”
In total, 211 participants spent the night at the Pirelli Stadium and St Modwen’s Church Graveyard to raise vital funds for the charity.
Alexander Accountancy Chairman David Alexander said: “Congratulations to Lisa for successfully hitting her fundraising target by completing the sleep-out for YMCA Burton, a local cause which we support year round.
“As a business we value the personal efforts our colleagues make to support YMCA Burton’s important work supporting homeless people in our region.”
Last month, businesses across Burton-on-Trent and East Staffordshire showed off their general knowledge skills at Alexander Accountancy’s charity quiz night in aid of YMCA Burton.
The annual event, held on October 9 at Burton Albion’s Pirelli Stadium, raised £5650 in total.
