Businesses helped good causes at the latest Alexander Accountancy-supported Networking for Charities event, which brings together companies to mix professional networking with charitable fundraising.

Two charities and an IT business were able to highlight their work at the networking event, organised by Kings Office Supplies, which was held at Harrison’s Hub, Pride Park Stadium, Derby, on Wednesday (September 23).

The first presentation was on behalf of Children First Derby, a voluntary group operating since 1974 to support vulnerable and disadvantaged children, young people and their families.

Aiming to provide early intervention, aspiration and prevention, the charity has launched campaign 50:50, which is calling on people and businesses across Derby and Derbyshire to donate £50, enough to help fund an hour of vital support for a child or young person.

The second presentation was by Rebuild East Midlands, which supports people who have been subjected to modern slavery and helps survivors of exploitation.

As the only charity in the region that offers this support, Rebuild offers companies the chance to start a monthly subscription to help to support and raise awareness to the charity.

A presentation by Derby-based business Hubtel IT outlined how they support charities with their computer systems and how they can introduce efficiencies on data.

Hubtel IT encourage charities to have all their data in one place to help plan the management of waiting lists and prioritise the urgency of supporting certain people.

Alexander Accountancy supports Networking for Charities as part of its commitment to strengthening local business connections through a programme of networking and information events, delivered whilst supporting charitable organisations throughout the region.

Sophie Whysall, Alexander Accountancy Account Semi-Senior, said: “It was great to see faces old and new at the first Networking for Charities event after the summer break.

“Alexander Accountancy is a long-term supporter of Networking for Charities, so we would encourage more companies to come along to this autumn’s events to grow their connections while helping good causes who make such a positive difference in our community.”

Events are planned for October and November, both at the Pride Park Stadium. Registrations are open online on Event Brite for Wednesday October 21 and Wednesday November 25.
