Alexander Accountancy urges business owners to take up director verification support

Alexander Accountancy is encouraging company directors and persons with significant control (PSCs) to take advantage of its identity verification service following the introduction of new Companies House requirements.

Since 18th November 2025, identity verification has been a legal requirement for anyone setting up, running, owning, or controlling a company in the UK. The measure has been introduced by Companies House to help deter those wishing to use companies for illegal purposes.

All directors and members of LLPs are now required to verify their identity within a 12-month window dependent on when their annual confirmation statement becomes due.

PSCs who are not directors of the company they are part of are required to submit their verification details in their month of birth which can add additional complications and a small chance of being missed by clients.

Failure to meet the verification deadline carries serious consequences. Unverified directors and PSCs will be unable to operate in their roles or file with Companies House and continuing to act while unverified is an offence that may result in fines and business closure.

Alexander Accountancy is helping clients navigate the process and is completing the necessary ID verification checks for a one-off fee of £60 + VAT per director or PSC.

Alexander Accountancy chairman David Alexander said: “Getting ahead of the new requirement is essential. We’ve seen clients who’ve attempted to complete the verification themselves and encounter various obstacles, from technology issues and verification codes not being received. What should be straightforward, can quickly become time-consuming and frustrating.

“Clients can avoid the hassle and ensure they meet the deadline by letting us take care of it. This is a one-off transaction that provides peace of mind and keeps businesses compliant. The alternative is missing the deadline and potentially facing being struck off, plus administrative charges to reopen accounts is far more costly and disruptive.”
