YMCA BURTON CHARITY QUIZ NIGHT WINNERS“WHO ELSE, BUT ELSE” ELSE SOLICITORS WIN!

Yes, it’s congratulations to Else Solicitors for winning the YMCA Burton Charity Quiz Night organized by Alexander Accountancy, for the second time in three years. We also need to give a special mention to the YMCA Team for finishing second and DENSA III, our 2023 winners, for coming third.

It proved to be a highly enjoyable and successful evening with many believing it to be the best charity quiz night organized by Alexander Accountancy since they started in 2016 with 21 teams taking part, and achieving a total amount raised to date of £3,300, the highest amount since the Covid outbreak.

Our thanks go to all the businesses, individuals, and independent teams that entered the quiz for their donations; to the independent sponsors Reflex Print, Profusion Wealth Management and Making Trails; to Richard Lloyd for both setting the questions and acting as the Quizmaster; to Paul Laffey the CEO of YMCA Burton for both his talk on the charity and acting as the Auctioneer; to all those that donated the auction and raffle prizes that realized a total of £2,017; to Burton Albion and their staff for the superb venue, providing a tasty hot buffet, and exceptional service throughout the evening; and last but not least, Wayne Penlington and the Alexander Accountancy staff for their contribution in acting as hosts on the night and organizers behind the scenes.

YMCA BURTON SLEEPOUT

The biggest single event each year for YMCA Burton is their sleepout that takes place on 25th October 2024 at The Pirelli Stadium, and St Modwen’s Graveyard or can be done virtually at any outdoor location of your choice.

During the evening it was announced David Alexander, founder of Alexander Accountancy, would take part in the extreme sleepout in St Modwen’s Graveyard providing every team donated at least £10 to YMCA Burton. This was easily achieved and raised a total on the night of £345 which together with gift aid will realize over £400.

However, as the sleepout does not take place until the 25th October, there is still time to boost this amount even more. You can support David and YMCA Burton by making a donation which you can do by clicking this link to visit David’s Just Giving page David’s Fundraiser for Burton YMCA or call the YMCA on 01283 538802 or by sending your pledge to da***@al*******************.uk

The money raised will go towards providing housing for the homeless, food parcels for those struggling with the cost-of-living crisis, and mediation services for those who require mental health or welfare support. For David, the challenge is made tougher than for most due to his age as a state pensioner and underlying health issues that include Acute Kidney Injury, Type 2 Diabetes, and having an Ileostomy.

PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN

In the current economic climate, charities are finding it harder than ever. The economy is less affluent, and with wars in Europe and the Middle East adding to the challenges, more and more people are requiring help with housing and food, as well as support with mental health issues. Yet the same pressures are making it harder for charities to raise funds as everyone’s finances become tighter.

It doesn’t matter how large or small your donation is, every penny counts, please click the link and give what you can. David’s Fundraiser for Burton YMCA
