Why Did We Run A Fundraiser for Burton YMCA?

Why did Alexander Accountancy choose to run a fundraising event for Burton on Trent YMCA?

Alexander Accountancy has a strong philosophy of looking after our stakeholders. This includes not only our customers, but also our staff, our suppliers and our strategic partners.

We have run a series of events through 2016 aimed at helping Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SME’s). This has now evolved into Alexander’s Business Club, which is not just for our own clients and contacts. We want to make it available as a forum for any local business to gain and share knowledge and expertise that can help us all.

For our final event of the year it seemed a natural progression to extend our philosophy beyond the business community, and try to give something back to the local community as a whole. We therefore opted for a charity quiz night.

Burton YMCA was a natural choice as food and shelter are crucial basic requirements for us all. Plus Burton YMCA is known to me, not only through local contacts, but also for helping someone I know.

Burton District Chamber of Commerce and Burton Business Club regularly support charitable causes. So following discussions with their representatives it was decided we should pool our resources in a combined effort, rather than appear to be competing with each other. Especially as Alexander Accountancy and Burton YMCA are both members of Burton Business Club.

As a result of our combined efforts we now have a more inclusive event, which is effectively a joint meeting for Burton Business Club and Burton District Chamber of Commerce, where every penny raised will go to Burton YMCA.
